Firearm storage Sack-Ups

A sack sized to the gun, not the safe. Rifles, shotguns, carbines, AR-15s, handguns and black powder guns, knit from silicone-treated cotton since 1985.

Sized to the gun, not the safe.

Model 100, at 52 inches, is the popular choice for most rifles and shotguns, and it comes in gray, or in the colored runs, Model 101 black and Model 102 green. Longer scoped rifles and AR-15 setups move to Model 104 at 52 inches or the shorter Model 110 at 40 inches. Carbines and short rifles fit Model 106 at 42 inches, or Model 121 in black at the same 42 inches. Break down and over and under shotguns split into two sacks, a Model 511 barrel sack at 36 inches and a Model 512 receiver sack at 24 inches, with black versions available as Model 523 and Model 524. Black powder guns get their own length, Model 507 at 66 inches. Every sack is a soft cotton knit, treated with environmentally safe oil and silicone, built to wick moisture off the metal instead of trapping it there the way a thin synthetic sleeve does.

What's sewn into every sack

Look closely at a Sack-Up and you will find a woven label stitched into the seam for MAKE, MODEL and DATE CLEANED, a small detail that turns a crowded safe into something you can identify at a glance without pulling every gun out to check. It is a manufacturing habit that goes back to 1985, not a recent add-on. Buying for more than one gun costs less per sack: Model 207 packs five of the 13.5 inch handgun sacks for $52.05, Model 107 packs three of the 52 inch rifle sacks for $40.37, and Model 109 packs six of the 52 inch rifle sacks for $80.71.

Buyer's guide

Start with the gear you own

“When in doubt, give your gear a little extra room.” That is Sack-Ups' own line, and it holds up: a sack that is a size too long still cinches down, a sack that is too short never fully covers the barrel.

Rifles and shotguns

Model 100, 52 inches, gray, is the popular choice. Model 101 black and Model 102 green cover the same length in a different finish.

Large scoped rifle & AR-15

Model 104 at 52 inches for the full setup, Model 110 at 40 inches for shorter optics and barrel combinations.

Carbines and short rifles

Model 106 at 42 inches in gray, Model 121 at the same 42 inches in black.

Handguns

Model 200, 13.5 inches, fits most pistols and revolvers. For compact handguns, Model 203 at 10 inches, Model 218 at 8 inches or Model 216 at 6 inches. Model 204 at 17 inches is built for large or scoped pistols.

Break down and over & under shotguns

Model 511 barrel, 36 inches, and Model 512 receiver, 24 inches, sold as the pair. Black finish runs as Model 523 and Model 524.

Black powder

Model 507 at 66 inches, sized for the long barrels traditional muzzleloaders carry.

The same cotton and silicone treatment behind every model on this list is explained in full on why cotton, the page that covers moisture-wicking, finish protection and what forty years of customer stories have actually shown it survives.

A real line, not a rumor

Misprints: the mis-logoed seconds

Not every sack that comes off the knitting floor gets the print right. When a logo run misprints, the sack itself is still full-strength cotton and silicone, just cosmetically off, so Sack-Ups sells it as a real catalogue line rather than scrapping it. The Rifle/Shotgun Misprints Sack-Ups, 52 inches, is $9.26, well under the standard Model 100 price, with the same protection underneath the crooked stamp. It is a small detail, but it is the kind of thing a company only does when it has been running the same knitting floor since 1985.

Every model on this page, and the full range built for knives, rods, bows and tools, is laid out on the full protection range.
